Lots of good things are happening at Michael & Michael as we enter the new year, including a major salon expansion on the horizon. We've taken over the building next door at 363 W. Chicago and will soon be building out our space to add more stylists, more colorists, more product lines -- while working closely with our architect to maintain the intimate atmosphere our clients have come to cherish. We'll be sharing photos and news along the way as the expansion unfolds, so stay tuned for regular updates.

Backstage at the 58th Gold Coast Fashion Awards Show.

For the sixth year in a row, our team styled all of the models' hair at the Gold Coast Fashion Awards Show. Salon co-founder Michael Jacobson designed a signature style for this year's show. "For the runway look, we created an elegant, but abashedly unrefined, mohawk-inspired upstyle," says Michael. "Loosely curled hair is pulled back into rope braids which are then pulled, slightly deconstructed and shaped into a soft mohawk design. The softness of the curls and loosening of the braids offset the otherwise severe mohawk shape, creating a sophisticated, but still fierce, urban look."
